I just thought that I would share with you my thoughts after owning a 147 Lusso for 3 months now. This is my first Alfa and I chose it over other cars mainly on the looks but also on the driving experience. The first roundabout on my test drive had me sold! I had whittled my choice down to a 147 or a Focus but knew that if I chose the Focus I would still want the Alfa so even though it was a bit above my budget I went for the 147 and am very glad that I did. I now find myself driving the long way round to get to most places as I just enjoy driving it so much.
What would I change? Well I wish that I had gone for the 10 disk CD but apart from that Iím very happy with it. (Maybe Santa will pay for an upgrade???)
Problems? Yes there have been a few. There was a small dent in one of the doors (sorted very efficiently by the dealer Ė good start on their part but more about them later), the alarm sometimes goes off when I open the boot, there is a mark on the dashboard that I canít get off, there is condensation in one of the front indicators, the rear suspension had a squeak (sorted) and one of the windows has packed up. Now this is the funny bit. Took it into the dealers yesterday (Ancaster, Welling) to have these things looked at. They couldnít find anything wrong with the alarm (didnít think they would as it is an intermittent fault) and the window requires a part that has to be ordered, fair enough, but when I picked the car up I noticed that the indicator was still full of condensation even though I had been told that they had put a new one in. I told the nice lady on reception who went off to talk to the mechanic. It turns out he had put on a new side repeater even though it clearly did not have any condensation in it. So when it goes back for the window, they will have to have another go at putting in a new indicator. This was my second ďdealingĒ with the dealer and so far they only score 50%!
Apart from that I love it. I donít do very high mileage so Iím hoping that I donít have too much trouble with things like exhausts and clutch but time will tell.
Thanks for listening.
