Well, here is mine.
I bought my 147 from Alfisimo in North Rand Road Boksburg, JHB, South Africa.
The Sales guy was very good. It takes a special sort of sales person to not get my back up, never mind get me to trust him.
They claimed it has a full service history (which I still have not received
They wanted a deposit upfront before they will even start anything. So I hand of R5000, I'm serious about. 2 weeks later I'm like where is my AA report and road worthy? I want my car now. Sales guy is like well It'll be ready in a few more days, but they have the AA report (That I had to pay for) and will fix all the things on it. So I'm like fine. Next week, I'm like do you want to sell this car? Where the F is it? Sale guy phones says it's ready, but then there is not form of payment on earth that they will accept.
Only Hard Cash, but then they are going to charge me the transport and deposit fees. I fight for a half hour and explain what a bank guarantied counter cheque is. They will only accept it if they can talk to the same person that issued it. So I run around like a mad thing to get the cheque and get to the dealer.
I take the car home Half the stuff in the report isnít done. Then I take it to work. I get stopped on the way to work and get a fine cause my car isnít licensed.
I phone and scream at the sales guy. They agree to pay the fine. This has never happened.
The next week the selespeed quits on me. I take it back and ask for a car to drive. They look at me like I come from some strange planet.
I demand a car to drive, as I work + 50Km away. (The dealer is near my home.) I get a car. My car was fix in record time.
Next week the selespeed quits on me again.
I get is going myself.
Then it starts giving out on a daily basis, I phone the dealer. They tell me to bring it in. I take Friday afternoon off to get it there. They calibrate the system.
It works for a week and the starts it BS again. I take it back again and tell them Iím taking a car. Theyíre shocked by my presumption. I demand a car, they give me one. My car is ready the next day (Friday). I collect it.
Saturday Iím taking my mother-in-law to the airport, on the way I get a failure warning: ďEngine control system failureĒ and the engine goes very rough. I think oh man, electronic control system. 2 Km farther I get off the freeway and pull into the nearest service station. As I get there the engine quits altogether. (Cam Belt failure
). I have it towed to the dealer at my own expense. I demand a car, they offer me a death trap with a steering wheel that doesnít lock, a left front wheel that catches the faring when you turn the steering wheel and breaks that pull insanely to the left.
I take the death trap back.
The wife and I decide share her car. So from Late Oct 2008 I do over 200 km or 4 -5 hours a day in a old Jetta 3. On the 23rd Dec I go to the dealer and have it out with them. My car is standing abandoned in the back yard unlocked, in full sun, with the tires going flat.
out at them and demand a car again until mine is fixed. They tell me they can do this, but promise that my car will be ready by the 5th. I make a deal with them, Iíll collect a car on the 5th mine or one of theirs. They agree, so on the 5th I collect a 1.6 147 loan car. 3 weeks later and 200Km short of the loan carís cam belt service, Mine is ready. I collect it. At a cost of R11,000.
The next morning the selespeed quits on me. I phone the workshop manager and freak out at him. 5 hours later they send a tech to fix the car. He swops the selespeed pump relay and the fan relay and off I go. I asked the workshop manager at least 2 times if there was anything I could try to get it working.
Next week, the selespeed quits on me again.
Thatís when I decided to never speak to those guys again and to fix it myself and I found this forum and Alfadiag!
Thanks to you guys. Most specially SEARís and Smaky for their personal help.
It's all still too raw to be funny yet.
