I'm glad another owner agrees with me that the JTDm has a nice throaty note (maybe its their ferret ears???!) From past experience with other cars, perhaps those that don't have this normal throaty sound have a pattern exhaust fitted?
Regarding trim, mines a 56 model and all is impeccable, including the steering wheel trim. I can only suggest that i.w.tyas' JTD has had a hard life in the past.
Although I am now an Alfa fan, I'm not especially biased towards towards them and if I was having problems, I would be the first one to post them here. The only problem I've found so far is the front passenger seat fold operating lever has become detached from the operating cable which I do agree is a design fault, but otherwise, a lovely car to drive and to look at.
had my gt jtd over a year and its the third alfa in a row iv had.build quality shocking, engin e sound tractor like, mpg total rubbish.....but im not parting with it.drives me insane but would we all really be upset if vw eventually purchase our beloved marque?as long as they use bertone and pinninfarina design????
I have to chime in here. After owning a couple of VW products (well, Audi) and after having worked on them when I was on the spanners, I wouldn't want VW to have anything to do with them. The Alfa is definitely put together as well as the A6 I had and the A6 didn't turn, stop and certainly didn't go. The gearbox was awful and it had more elecrical faults than Fukushima.
Same mileage, different result.
I'm not sure if anyone else has put this so far, but a major PITA on the GT is the turning circle. It's literally noticably worse than my 16 foot long Trans Am. lol
I am impressed with it overall though. Every car model has faults, alfa are certainly no exception, but there really are more good bits about the car than I expected.
I think the VW group cars are massively overrated.
Squeeks, creaks and rattles? CHECK!
Neck need a couple of inces added to reach head rest? CHECK!
Indicators have a mind of their own? CHECK!
Cruise control causes other road uses to swear and curse? CHECK!
Gone deaf from stereo to drown out road noise? WHAT? SPEAK UP!
Wiper speeds driving me crazy? WIBBLE!
David Copperfield writing on badge? HOW DID HE DO THAT?
Pure unadulterated joy in driving? CLEAR THE ROADS I'M COMING THROUGH! Heh heh heh!
Have many of the above but the most annoying thing on my 07 GT is the gear change between 5th and 6th which is very stiff..
Anyone else experienced this.
I have not experienced this, but my 3rd gear crunches a bit when I quickly change from 2nd to 3rd the only time it does not crunch is when I ease it in slowly which is no good if you have some schmuc trying to race u ! Hope it does not mean new gear box???
Only picked my GT up on Sunday. I love everything about it except the noisy (at idle) diesel. I will get used to it as according to the trip I did 43mpg. I hope to God I don't become a diesel MPG bore
So far no complaints. I need to buy a spare key as it would seem I have a habit of buying cars with one (the last three). I do find driving the car with my work shoes on a bit uncomfortable especially the clutch. I am a bloke so they aren't high heels (unless it is weekend ) but so much better in trainers.
I need a CD magazine as that too is missing.
Do love the way it looks especially in black
Oh and the Alfa Romeo badges front and rear appear to be de-laminating.
