Jump Starting

Batterys dead on the 156 and from a quick seach on here, seems its safe enough to jump start it as long as i earth the -ve cable to the car?
However the +ve terminal is recessed so cant really connect to it.
Is it ok to connect the fuse box? even this isnt easy to get at as its a JTD and the the turbo pipe passes over it.

Re: Jump Starting

No its not safe to connect to the fuse box. If you cant connect the jump leads properly, charge the battery up in situ or remove it to charge it. The jump lead must be connected directly to the pos terminal (or other point provided on the starter circuit on some cars), they are the only cables capable of carrying the current required to start the engine. The earth can be connected to the engine if you wish.
