Had the wifes Ducati q2 about a month now, done about 800ish miles most of which very well behaved
Looked at the trip computer and it sais Ave consumption 35mpg
Surely this cant be right? If it is I wish Id bought a 3.2 Brera
In all seriousness anyone got some advise on this( soon to become expensive) problem?
A couple of things to consider.
1. Short journeys in cold conditions kill consumption
2. 800 miles is nothing, the engine will not loosen up until at least 12K, the consumption will gradually improve until then when it should settle down.
Have you driven diesels before? Consumption will suffer if you keep prodding the throttle rather than anticipate traffic and road conditions. On a run holding a constant speed, 50mpg should be easily achieved; I can get this out of my 2.4 156 SW on a run!
There is no need to use all the gears, once run in you can "block change" and miss out every other gear, this will improve consumption as you won't be prodding the loud pedal so often. Don't worry, you can still accelerate quickly but by gently squeezing the pedal and allowing the torque to do its job.
p.s. The only way of getting an accurate reading is by filling the tank from brim to brim rather than rely on the computer.
If all else fails I'll swop!
