156 2l ts not the cam belt
Hello i recently bought my first alfa and already feel the kind of fondness reserved for family members and hot women!
I had the cambelt changed just after i bought it (46k but i didnt get any history with it so i presume it hadnt been done) The other night i was driving at about 30mph when i lost all power, turning the key just made the whirr of the starter motor with no strain. i pushed into a bus stop and called greenflag. The mechanic turned up and told me it was the cambelt, so i got it taken back to the garage that changed it.
The garage have just got back to me to tell me that the cambelt had not gone but the crankshaft bolt had come, loose stripped the woodruff key thus spinning the crank independantly of the timing belt and probably goosing a bunch of valves etc.
Has anyone heard of this before and is there anything else that i could have broken?
Thank you Tom
