The delay you feel will be the speed of the motor in the throttle body of the CF3, it will electronically know to throw in more fuel and does before the motor in the throttle body can get the butterfly open to match the air flow required, this floods the spark out and makes the engine seem flat on pickup, because the CF1 was mechanically operated the flap opened to let in more air and then the signal was sent for fuel, the leaning of the air/fuel mix for that split second gave the engine a kick which is what is making you think the engine feels flatter in responsiveness terms.
It's all the drive by wires fault.
