I will be stripping down the suspension on my 156 to renew the shaft seals, alot of the nuts bolts etc have never been off before so suspect they will need some help, does anyone know if plusgas is likely to be damaging to any of the seals and ball joint rubbers?

Re: Plusgas?

I have never had any issues using Plus Gas and i believe it to be the best release fluid on the market.

Re: Plusgas?

It is paraffin basically. I've used it for absolute ages on cars and motorbikes with no adverse effects.

Re: Plusgas?

Myth or fact, I'm not sure whether proven or otherwise, but this was attributed to the product by some, when I used it over many years. Since the early sixties, iirc.

Test case in the offing? Immerse some scrap seals/rubbers, (grease free) in the liquid for a fairly lengthy period, then wash off with detergent, hot water, and dry thoroughly, and examine the results? Use a magnifying glass to examine them, and test the objects for degredation, brittleness and so on? MV sleuthing?
