Advice Needed on MAF Issue
18 months ago I had a new MAF fitted when I had some other work done on my 156 2.5v6 at Bluebell Motor Company. After about 3 months it failed so I took the car back and they replaced the MAF under warantee. The date I had the replacement fitted was Dec 11th 2007.
Yesterday whilst coming off a roundabout and onto a long straight I took her past 5,000rpm in second and as I was nearing 4,000rpm in third the engine management light came on (the little red injector symbol on the speedometor guage) I backed off the power and took her home in low revs, there was still power there but decided against going above 2,000rpm. The car at this stage was behaving normally.
Then this morning when I got in to start her she spluttered a bit before starting. Now when I'm sitting at lights or pulling off she splutters, pops and generally runs like a dog untill the revs get above 2,000rpm. This is the same behaviour I was experiencing the last time the MAF went just not so severe (the car wouldn't even start last time)
So my question is this, if it turns out to be another MAF issue what length of warantee do I have on the replacement part that was fitted on Dec 11th 2007. At over £200 a go I don't want to be getting a new one every 14 months!
Also Bluebell Motor Company aren't trading anymore so I'm kinda guessing I don't have a leg to stand on. Or is it possible to contact there suppliers direct?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Owning an Alfa is not a matter of life or death...... It's much more important than that.
