Farewell my loyal friend....
I hardly knew thee.....
Tomorrow, I say goodbye to my beloved 156 2.0 JTS.
She's been a wonderful steed over the past seven years.
From first laying eyes on her at Alfa Italia in Sydney, Australia, seductively gleaming under searing showroom spotlights, I knew I had to have her.
It was the car which attracted me to the marque. My first Alfa Romeo. The one that made me realize not all cars are created the same, sound the same or are styled the same.
She never let me down once. Her beautiful rasping engine, nimble handling and sumptuos interior had me smiling year on year. Many a glance over the shoulder were stolen after parking her.
She was fun. Exciting. Engaging. What every man could ever ask of a machine. Yet she was more than that.
She was mine. And I loved her.
Alas, she's been sold and off to greener pastures tomorrow. I can't help but acknowledge that with her departure, a slice of me and my life go with her.
So why sell her? Well to be honest, there was really no need to other than the desire for a change. The Brera had always been a car that I had liked. I decided to make it a reality.
God Speed "Porca Puttana".
May your future life be filled with Autoglym rubdowns and Castrol Edge Sport refills.
I salute you.
You have been a very good beast. And a loyal friend.
