sounds like the selespeed relay, does the thing make a noise when opening the drivers door?
if not likely to be the relay, cost £12, location, between the battery and thermostat tucked under the MAF. Try taking it out and popping back in a few times to clear any oxidization off it, then order a new one. It's quite a common failure, seasoned Sillyspeeders carry a spare.
if you can hear the pump priming on opeing the door, see how much oil is in it is the most straightforward thing, there after it is potentially something more serious/difficult and time to get a mech in.
