Asking really nicely in hope that I get some replies this time :S
Ever since I have got my 147 last may I have had constant knocks from the front suspension. I am pulling my hair out to find what is causing them. This is the story so far:
Brand new upper wishbone on drivers side when I bought the car. Suspension was super Quiet. Within 2 weeks
the noise Started over any bump. The knocking got progressively louder every day. Replaced the Passenger upper wishbone and both drop links (parts supplied and I know they where definitely replaced by local specialist).
Knock was gone and car felt "like new" to drive. Within 40 miles, the knock returned
and was just as loud as before
Investigation under the car revealed Exhaust bracket missing from Manifold. I effected a temporary repair with some heavy duty garden wire. No difference.
All wishbones seem tight. no play. With the corners jacked up I can push and pull on the wheel and there is no play anywhere. Cv joints seem perfect, no play etc etc. Anti Roll bar is tight too.
There is a fraction of play (and i mean a tiny bit) where the Strut Forks attach to the lower wishbones. is this normal?
The consistency of the knock seems to change. Sometimes there is no noise, most of the time it is there and occasionally it is so loud it makes me want to scream
Can someone please
help me with this as it is marring my enjoyment of such a brilliant car!!
