Have you checked that the wheel bolts are correctly tightened? I had a similar problem on my 155 after having new pads fitted and it turned out that the mechanic had given the job of putting things back together to his apprentice. You need to jack it up so the tyre is clear of the ground, when I checked by the side of the Mway they seemed tight, when I checked on the jack at home it was a different story. I used to drive rwd Giulettas and GTV6s, they were very sensitive to balance issues and I had to have the wheels balanced on car, even in the mid 80s very few tyre fitters had the equipment, haven't seen anybody with it for years, fwd alfas seem to have no similar problems though. Tyre balance problems tend to be speed related, the shake will only appear above a certain speed and will get worse the faster you go, maybe stopping as you go faster still. Front imbalance will make the steering wheel shake, rear the whole car so you'll feel it in the seat of the pants.
