what a result!
i damaged my 147 in the snow a couple of weeks ago and took it to a new alfa garage around the corner because the back wheel wobbled like a goodun and he had a look and said i had bent the link arm and it was very dangerous as the wheel could buckle under the car and fall off, he also said the bush had gone and the brake discs were shot. when i asked how much to fix it he said £120 + vat just to take the wheel off and look then what ever it costs to repair the damage. i was then told because i had damaged one arm i had to have the other replaced aswell as it would make the tyres wear quicker or something which was £70+ vat each for the arm and i would need 2, also i would need 2 new bushes and the bolt which holds it together would probably break when it came out so i need a new set of those aswell. in the end it came close to £500 to put it all right and after that i would still need four wheel tracking done. i said i'd tell him if i wanted it done. when i got home i phoned the garage where i bought my very first car from 2 years ago as they were very helpful and he said take it over so i did. turns out the first bloke was trying to rob me as i don't need new brakes the only thing wrong was a bent link arm and that was quoted at £17 (i think) this did go up to £47 because they had to get it from alfa in the end as they had been sent 2 different bits each time also he said he would mark everything up before he took it apart and put the new arm on in the exact same place as the old one so i shouldn't need four wheel tracking done either. the whole lot cost me £101 inc vat which made me very very happy. if any one lives near watford and needs some work doing i know some one who i can highly reccommend.
