Warning Lights - early 2.4JTD - OBD?

Firstly, apologies for starting the 500th thread on this subject!
I've read just about every other one and am now thoroughly confused. Hoping someone can put me right!

I have a 2001 156 2.4JTD and need to reset a couple of warning lights:-

1. Engine warning - came on when MAF gave up the ghost. New MAF now fitted.

2. Airbag warning - came on when a portly passenger moved his seat whilst the ignition was on.

My problem is that as a pre-04 JTD, I'm assuming I won't have the "standard" OBDII setup and "off the shelf" OBD leads and reset tools won't work. Is this right?

I've read lots of posts concerning bridging pins, buying leads from ebay, downloading diagnostic software, etc. I've got a bit lost now to be honest.

Can any kind soul explain this to me simply? I'm fairly experienced with the mechanical side, but OBD, etc. is a foreign land to me!

Any help gratefully received!
