156 2.4 JTD Fan temp

very recently fitted a new stat to my 2.4 jtd, it now sits at 85 on a run (great) i left it ticking over on my drive today and slowly the temp went to approximately 93 at this point i expected the fans to start working but this did not happen

What temp should the fans start working and if it is before 93 degrees how can i check if mine are faulty

Re: 156 2.4 JTD Fan temp

Hard to check on a JTD as the temperature doesn't rise that quickly (especially if your rad is in good condition) ... I presume you're measuring the temperature with the gauge which nortoriously in accurate ... I presonally would say don't worry about unless your temp rises significantly ...

Re: 156 2.4 JTD Fan temp

afaik the trigger points are 98 deg C & 103 Deg C

if you try this simple test:

1. open bonnet & remove the temp sensors connector
2. start the engine & let it idle
3. observe the fan, after 5 seconds or so it should turn on at the LOW speed
4. after another 5 seconds or so it should operate at the high speed

if only one speed work, the highest, then the resistor or conector to the resistor is most likely to be burnt out.

the resistor is located at the top of the rad nearest the battery
