induction kit or panel filter?

im looking at changing the air intake as an easy mod, would normally put an induction kit on, but the air box seems to be in a good position so was looking at putting in an aftermarket panel filter. anyone done either of these and could recommend one or the other?

Re: induction kit or panel filter?

Had the same question with my 156 v6, not sure if the filter is the same (drum inside a container below the headlights and a nightmare to remove) I tried to find a place to fit the aftermarket filter but there isn't space, was on ebay looking for a carbon fibre type system and found a 40 one that, with a little modification using a cut down flat style hoover drive belt fitted onto the MAF and was small enough to put inside the standard filter housing. So that now the sports filter is inside the carbon housing inside the stock filter housing fed by the stock intake hose. Does it make a difference? Well I haven't had it on the dyno yet, before that the next step is a sports exhaust. Subjectively, yes it feels a bit livelier, just like my hi fi sounds a bit "better" with the latest super cable, or more likely just a little different.

BMC filter element,
Works for me, fit it and forget about it for 20,000 miles and no oil to worry about screwing up your MAF.

Re: induction kit or panel filter?

The airbox on the 147 JTD IS A REAL NIGHTMARE!!! I serviced my JTD on tuesday and the airfilter took me 4 hours to change - AND I BROKE THE UPPER CLIPS ON THE AIRBOX, so I had to cable tie the damn thing togather!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Airfilters on other cars are the easiest things to change, except on ALFAS!!

just three letters, GSR, its a true induction system that provides real and proven gains.

Not all that's carbon fibre provides extra power.
