Starting problem 2.0 TS 2001
Now have a starting problem, which has been getting progressively noticeable over the past few weeks. Issue only occurs when the engine is cold. If I stop the engine when hot and start again, she starts beautifully.
Heres the symptoms:
Start engine, she starts but revs quickly drop to around 100RPM and then slowly pick up and she runs fine afterwards.
This has happened about 10 times now from cold on a morning (its around 0-5C on a morning here at the moment).
However, when I tried to start her yesterday, she wouldnt catch at all. I had to keep trying to turn her over for about 2-3 minutes and then she finally caught, revs droped and then picked up again and all was okay. Late morning when I nipped out she struggled to start, but not as badly, which was new.
I will plug alfadiag on later and see if any codes recorded. I changed the RPM sensor about 6 months ago, so I still have the old one, but my gut feeling is that it cant be that as she wouldnt run if that was the problem.
