OK, made 215bhp on stock turbo, but big FMIC, reworked 2.5" boost piping straight into the intake manifold - removing the restrictive 'quiet shutdown' butterfly valve, 80mm induction and air mass sensor, that made 215bhp
Target 250bhp is made of simply of this.
Larger GT2559V VNT turbo (largest before going heavy industry) should make 240bhp - an increase of 25bhp, the last 10bhp from re-installing the water/meth injection.
There still seems plenty of headroom on fuelling in the mapping, and the car did not smoke at all, but the old turbo was really struggling to maintain much of boost at high revs.
There was a dyno printout of the last 215bhp run, its not dyno-queen torque figures though, the torque was kept low (280 lb/ft wheel torque) with the torque limiters in the map to save the box and clutch. Had 313 lb/ft at wheels before, but it was not usuable at low revs, just gearbox destroying.
Thanks for the info Jasons, surprised about the gaskets considering how much had been escaping. But just what i wanted to hear about refurbing the thing
shouldn't really get that much escape, as long as its a good clean flat surface.
My manifold is bent like a banana - engine side - so its going for a skim!
