<strong>Well it had to happen sooner later, my day of reckoning in my little "Devil" the GTA.
Today whilst travelling south of Sydney on one of our motorways (F6 for the syd guys), i am in the overtaking lane making easy work of some Jap thing, when all of a sudden this wanna be in a BMW330 Coupe is on my tail, lights flashing hands in the air cursing and swearing like i have just wiped 10mS off his travel time.
Rememebering that one of these things blew my 166 "off the ball park" i was adamament i wanted to restore my Italian pride.
Dropping the "Devil" into 3rd gear produced the most intoxicating howl i know. GTA's rip!!!
My response was immediate and swift i was all over him in no time. He was trying really hard to pull away but the "Devil" had his measure.
As i know this road very well, i knew the ulimate challenge was just ahead. 6Kms of nice fast left and right hand bends signposted at 100km/h.
We arrive at the first left hander side by side, i braked a little later than what he did and blasted out of the corner in third gear with the inside tyre screaming for traction. The 330 was eating my Michelin left overs laughing .
He was trying really hard to keep up, but point to point thru fast corners on a road that has just been resealed, the little "Devil" just served it up to the wanna be challenger. By the time we got to the 3 set of corners, i was gone out of there. Wow what a Drive..
Some things i noted
-Whilst i have driven the car hard, this is the first time i have had sustained RPM over 6000 for a period of time, and let me tell you a GTA flies off the handle at 5500rpm the sound, the noise, the feel and control is sensational.
-Michelin Pilot Sports are friggen grippy.
-For some reason my car feels more controlled at speed going into a right hand bend than a left hand bend. It has a floaty feel on left hand bends.
-Speed wise it easily gets to 215km in 5th gear, but then drops over 2000rpm when i shift to sixth. Ran out of road to push the car further.
-Lastly whilst i know the risks involved, the 330 had to go. The road was empty, their is fanastic run off and i know it extremly well.
-The "day of reckoning" saw Italian pride restored
. (Where's that Saxo wanna be??)

I wish I was there to see your GTA on fire!
There is nothing as sweet as a GTA engine at 6000RPM & over
