Fuel flooding?

Morning guys

had all the cams pumps, variator, belt etc changed on the wagon a couple of days ago. Its really cold here this morning and went and started the car and i got quite a loud tut tut tut noise that came from that general area which came and went within a couple of seconds.

Stopped the engine and tried again but no noise this time.

Drove to work and tried again, no noise just a sweet purring that i have come to expect.

Rang the alfa garage and they said that this can be caused but the car over fueling itself in cold weather and to rev the engine next time it happens and it'll go. this does hold some water 'cos it sounds as sweet as a nut now.

Just wanted some other opinions that i wasnt being fed BS.
