Good News Post!!!! new Thermostat!
I fitted a new thermostat today on my 2.4 JTD 156. For those who havent done it its not too hard, but does take a few hours. Its a whole ali casting, not just a small 'stat that drops in. Alfa wanted £100, motor factors charged me £67 for a Gates one.
The needle now shows a steady 88 degrees, just as it should. The heating is hot too. The main improvement has been in losing the flat spot in power delivery. It now wooshes up to 5k with no hesitation.
Before it was running at about 65 degrees-eventually. I also cleaned out the sensor on the back of the inlet manifold. It was full of soot, so that might have helped!
If your car is running cool its worth doing!
There is a stat on ebay with a buy it now for £38......bit late for me, but might be good for someone.
