Hi,

I've just got an '07 147 Collezione (nice!) but I seem to have a problem with the radio.
FM and Cd's seem fine but there is no signal (just varying degrees of white noise) on AM and LW. This wouldn't normally be an issue but I do like listening to Five Live on the way to work sometimes.
I called the dealer I bought it from (Black & White) but they said it should just be one connection and didn't understand why it was like this.
Anyone got any ideas or had the same problem?

Neil :(

Sounds like a problem with the antenna. I had something similar on my 145 - the antenna cable was broken at the antenna end. I got tolerable reception on FM where there was a strong signal, but AM was unusable.

It would have been a long job replacing the whole cable; I just got the last 100mm or so from a scrapyard & spliced it in. On the 145 the antenna is above the windscreen so the connection is accessible through the interior light housing - on the 147 it's at the back of the car, so you'd need, presumably, to remove the roof lining to get to it!

I suspect my broken cable was a very rare occurrence. In your case, the first thing I'd check is that the antenna is plugged in to the back of the radio. It would also be a good idea to unscrew the antenna itself & check that there's no corrosion where it screws into the base. Anything more than that, back to the dealer!
