did you have any problems with the 166??? and probably you have already driven the 156...which one do you think is better???</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The clutch master cylinder failed at 45,000 miles, so I asked the dealer to replace both master and slave. Cured the problem perfectly, although the initial diagnosis of the problem was a bit painful.
The rear suspension units were replaced at about 50,000 miles, as they were starting to sag and reduce ride height.
I guess these could both be called wear and tear, but these are the closest things to problems I have had.
I have not driven a 156 at all I'm afraid. Drove a 147 once as a service loan car, but never the 156. 147 was an elegant, well built, stylish way to travel for the 20 miles I had it - but, it was missing 2 cylinders and 1,400cc.
With regard to which one I prefer, the 166 by a country mile. I cannot say I like the 156 interior at all, and a big part of me likes to be different. You really do not see many 166s around.
If they sold the 2.4JTD 166 over here in the UK, that would be my perfect car.
ps: Wim, I am neither embarrassed nor humilated. Well, not for my typing abilities anyway...
