Fail to Start - Not really sorted
Failing to start after a short start-up. It's happened to me twice now and I know why it happens but not really sure if it's something I can fix.
Yesterday I moved the car off the drive swiftly to allow my wife to get out and stopped the engine about 15 seconds afterwards. 4 Hours later I wanted to reverse the positions but it failed to start. I'm pretty sure it's because the Lambda sensors are bathed in pure petrol so the system says no more fuel.
This morning, and at my leisure, I did a careful jump start. I always worry about this since I fried the Airbag ECU 2 years ago. In the same way as the previous evening the first turn of the key makes the engine cough but imediately fail with the starter churning away. You just have to keep it going until you get 1 cylinder and slowly work up to all 4.
For the next 12 months I'll probably remember to leave it running for 60 seconds before turning it off. But it would be nice to know if there is something that needs fixing before I forget again.
