Too low to go
My 156 2.4 jtdm Ti has for the second time grounded out and damaged something expensive. The first time was the sump, and now the radiator has been damaged, requiring replacement.
It's not that the car has been driven over rough ground, or I have delusions of adequacy as a 4x4 tractor driver. Both times the damage has been caused on public roads. The big diesel 156's are notoriously low, and the Ti has been lowered at the factory even further. This design smacks of madness to me. At the risk of sounding like a correspondent of Points Of View but, "Why, oh why, oh why?"
So, rather than go off down the route of lowering a car, I want to lift it a bit. Bigger springs? New shocks? Larger wheels? Buy something that wasn't designed by a muppet? Don't get me wrong, I love this car, and have had Alfas for over ten years. I'm just irritated by this one feature and need to correct it before I have to get a mortgage just to keep Monza Sport funded.
