Re: 147 1.6TS Temperature
I think that you guys are all being a bit paranoid.
I've driven with the 1.6TS engine for over ten years (CF1 and CF3). The temperature guage can vary a fair bit depending on the demands made by the cabin heating system.
For example, in my 145, in a traffic jam on the motorway in the summer and with the engine idling the temperture easily got over 90 so that the fan cut in for a few minutes. However, I could reduce the temperature of the coolant by 5 - 10 °C just by putting the cabin heating on full heat at max speed. With the advent of climate control we are not always aware what temp air is coming out of the vents...I'd expect this to vary. Hence the temperature of the coolant will vary too.
Therefore, an indicated temperature of 75 - 95 is probably quite acceptable if that is the only thing that is changing.
If other indicators, such as fuel consumption, smooth running of engine, etc also give cause for concern then there MAY be an issue with the temperature sensor.
I've driven 1.6TS engines for over 200,000 miles and NEVER had to change any sensors.
