156 alarm problems

Hi Guys

I have a 1999 2.0 twinspark 156 and have had problems with the alarm on and off. In 2007 I managed to isolate the alarm after it refused to switch off. I found a thread on this forum I think and did something to isolate the alarm with the only visble effect being the dash LED being permanently on, can any one point me in the direction of the advice that would isolate the alarm but still allow the RCL to work off the key.

The reason I ask is that i had my Alfa standing for 7 months after it failed to sell and the battery went flat, I have replaced the battery as I am going to start using the car again but cannot get the alarm to shut up. I am quite happy to isolate the alrm if only I knew how. The last time I did not have to remove the arch liner but cannot remember exactly what I did.

Can anyone help
