Can anyone let me know the procedure for removing the steering wheel on a 156 without getting a face full of airbag? The internal contacts on by Selespeed controls are dirty and need cleaning up.
Thanks, Mark P
The first thing you need to do is to cut off all power (batterie) and wait at least 15 minutes before doing anything.Put your wheels straight and mark the steering wheel on the steeringwheel house. Unscrew the airbag, loosen the airbag a bit and unplug the connectors http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/j_vdvee...peedstuur1.jpg
To ItaliAlfa. Thanks for the info and diagrams.
Work is now done and seems to be successful. It is very interesting to get inside the Selespeed unit on the steering column and see how it works.
Do you know if I can buy a single + switch for the wheel as it has worn through its outer cover?
