Need I worry
I've just purchased a 2003 156 1.6TS, which is not only my first Alfa, but my first car. I've been driving hire cars for a number of years, but now it's all on me, which is scaring me a bit. Love the car though, and these fora have proved their worth already.
I'm a bit concerned about my clutch. Occasionally when I'm pulling away from a standstill, just as the clutch begins to bite it makes a grating sort of noise, which is accompanied by a slight vibration through the pedel. It never happens going through the gears, and I've never been able to induce it. I don't think it's the linkage, because pumping the clutch pedel never brings it on. Clutch fluid level looks fine too. The car has only done 45K, and the clutch is biting where you'd expect, doesnt seem to be slipping, and never smells.
So, it this a known issue, does it spell imminent disintegration, or am I being paranoid?
Any llight you can shed would be really appreciated.
