doesnt the light come on a bit late after the pads are worn and started to damage the discs</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Nope, the light comes on just before the pads are worn out and your disks are not in danger till the light comes on. BUT!! This does NOT mean that the light will come on!! You CAN'T rely on it and wait for the light to come on to change the pads. If the pads have already been replaced before, its possible the light doesnt work any more. This is because many times the cable plug of the new pads does not match the opposite plug of the car, and the mechanic just cuts off the wire. Or there isnt any wire at all at the new pads!! So YOU CANT TRUST IT.
You just have to check your pads every 10k or 15k KMs using your eyes wink
PS: The fact that the brake light comes on for a while when you turn on the ignition, does not mean that it will work when the pads are worn.
