Another selespeed twist!
Iam trying to solve a problem with a 156 sele that I have for repair , The car was sold as it had an oil leak after servicing , but I think this problem is not related , just bad luck.
I noticed the gerbox jerky and going to neutral when I loaded it on to the trailer, guy said there has been no problem in that area, suffice to say the battery was low on power.However once home it was found that the sele tank was empty well nothing above the steel plate you see with the top off. , so filled her up.
Started the car and was getting smoke from below , sele unit area, switched off.
Have tried alfadiag and the test will not run on ELO test, (under intruction from smaky)
Run through actuator test on odd and even gears, and you hear solenoids clicking. To me that rules out pump, it does prime when you open the door for about 9- 10 secs and stops.
Again tried things through today and again got this sreech on start up and smoke , switched off, looked and tried to scource heat , but nothing, started up again, small screech and you can hear mechanical noises like from the unit and then the noise stops and car runs normally, but no gears.
Its the smoke that worries me and how I can eliminate this or connect this to my diagnostics. IS there a solenoid/ actuator on its way out or is the pump not up to it. I don,t think diag tests pressure does it.
Overall all guys can you help, spoke to smaky foor a while and all due credit to him , he was at work!
Also noticed when I took the car off the trailor , this is before I discovered the empty tank that the sele light plashed when I used osme extra revs to get the car moving in the snow, not a good sign .
