Those struggling to get hold of 10w 60 oil could do worse than take advantage of this special offer;

Running on 10w 40 is more exspensive in the long run, i swear i used more oil than petrol

and i agree 2 x 4 litre would be better but i have had an exspensive month new cybox fitted then a cracked windscreen new ARB, so 100 euro on oil is hard to justify to the wife especialy as we have a new baby on its way

Well 10w40 used to be the recommended one for the 2.0TS but now it's 10w60. I've changed to Selenia Racing and so far find it uses less oil too, though I may try the Castrol stuff this time round as it's still good and cheaper.

Great deal here:

Everyone says 10w60 is the new recommendation but I've never actually seen it on anything official...?

I think I'm going to use Silkolene Pro S 10W50.

I've just stuck to the original Selenia 10w40, but mines one of those that seems to use barely any oil.

Re: 10w 60 Oil Much better.

Isn't Selenia Racing a 10W60 (from memory)? I used to use Selenia HPX in my Tipo 16v a few years ago which I think was a synthetic 10W60 (and designed to reduce oil consumption according to the tin). Is it still available?

Oops! Just found out the HPX is a 20W60. Probably a bit viscous for the depths of winter.

Re: 10w 60 Oil Much better.

I would rather use Castrol edge sport that Selenia racing

Selenia racing doesn't conform to either API or ACEA specifications.

Those are the specifications that modern oils generally meet or exceed these days.

It does conform to Fiat specifications, but then it would do as Fiat and Selenia have been linked in the past.

I would also be inclined to try a 5w-50 or a 10w-50 before going as thick as a 10w-60 if oil consumption was a problem.
