Re: help please please 156 horrible noise i mean load as hell
I would avoid jumping to conclusions based on a couple of the fairly alarmist posts above. I would also recommend you don't trust the advice of someone who has just heard the car over the phone.
You really need to get it to an Alfa specialist, and one nearby - don't bother trying to take it across the country. Get it recovered if you can as you really can't be sure what the noise is, or what damage you could do by running the engine - especially at 50-60mph!
If you want more info from people on here then we really need a more thorough description of the noise. If you can answer each of the questions Rockhopper posted above then we'd be able to give you a more considered response.
Is the noise present all the time the engine is running, not going away as it warms up? Does the speed of the noise go up and down with engine speed, road speed, or neither? Is it a metallic-sounding noise?
As above info on the mileage and service history will also help - ultimately though nobody will be able to diagnose it over the internet.
