ok ive been playing around with my engine this week and took the inlet manifold off which needed the HP pump to be taken off, so as you can gather i took the cam belt off....
the cam belt was replace a few months ago so is in very good condition, and i dont need a new one...... before i took the belt off i made sure the marking lines where still visable so i could put it all back together later, so i turned the crank over and saw 1 perfect white line, just what i wanted to see, so i ripped the belt off....
after doing what i had to do, i started to put everthing back together, when i came to the cam belt i noticed that there was only 1 line to be seen on it
(i should of checked both first)
SO MY PROBLEM IS
i have no idea how to time up my engine, as ive only got 1 timing mark showing... i can very easily line up the camshaft as its got the cut in the cam gear pointing to the plastic pip on the casing, only problem is i dont know where the crank should be????
so does anyone have a picture or very good explanation to where the crank pully should be point.. there are 2 good datom points which can be used, 1 is the little cut out in the gear, just like the cam gear, and the other is the location dowel for the big crank pulley wheel... where do these point to????
or anybody with a new belt, could you please count the teeth in between the 2 marking points and let me know!!!!
oh another point... usualy when doing cambelts No1 piston is at TDC.. is this the case with this engine, if so i can easily time it up doing this method, but i do need to be 100% sure before i do it
help is desperatly need on this one!!!!!
