A run down of GM specs for the High feature V6-obviously FIAT group engines will differ in exact final details
GM engines for Fiat, Alfa and Lancia
In light of the recent news about GM engines being fitted in the Fiat Auto product range, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia, Fiat issued an official response to clarify the matter.
As a result of the Fiat-GM industrial alliance established last year, a 50/50 joint-venture company called Fiat-GM Powertrain has been established.
Engines across the range will be rationalised over the next few years for the purpose of operational synergies, cost efficiencies and improvement of engine performances.
Advanced technology is such that it allows engines to share the same basic components while the fine tuning and other components, the cylinder head for example, are specifically dedicated to the personalisation of the different brands. This is certainly not a new development, as has already been the case with Fiat and Alfa Romeo engines.
The identity of each brand will be further enhanced without any compromise.
The objective of these decisions - overall improvement of engine performance and cost efficiencies - has the ultimate aim of providing the Fiat Auto customer with a superior product quality of even higher standards and a supreme driving experience. The Fiat-GM alliance is an industrial alliance - allied in costs and competitors in the market place -an upstream accord and not a downstream deal, Fiat said.
