Problem with red key
Hi all, this is my first post other than my introduction.
I got a problem on my 156 MY98.
Here's the story.
I brought my car to a shop to install a methane system on it. Well, to tell the truth they just REPLACED an old system, but that's not the point.
The guy who did the job fried my engine ECU so he has bought a new ecu set (engine ecu, code ecu, one key) from a breaker.
My original key was the one with alarm transmitter (red with black cap) and code2 transponder.
The new key is the version without the transmitter, just the red key and the alfa sticker on it.
The ecu kit did not include the lock set, so i only have the key for the transponder.
I don't know the VIN of the car where this new ecu set came from, and i don't have the master key nor the CODE CARD. I don't even have the master key for the old ecu (but i have the CODE CARD for it).
I've been to the best locksmith in town and i've even been to both ALFA and FIAT dealers.
Nobody seems to be able to clone a CODE2 transponder.
Since i want to keep the alarm system and i don't want to waste a lot of money to redo the whole lock set... do you have any advice?
NOTE: Actually the new key has been taped with immo aerial underneath the dash so i can use my old key for the ignition, that makes the immo useless... and i want it fully working.
Thanks in advance.
