Right on the button. I think the Alfa is the most gorgeous hatchback available. I love it's looks and its interior. But (like most Italian makes it seems) it's whether these things out weight the disadvantages I've mentioned.
Putting aside the attributes of the engine (I will find that out when I test drive it), I really would like to know whether the reliability and dealer service issues are as bad as people seem to report: cars regularly toing and froing from the dealer; dealers not even bothered about selling you are car, not provide you service after buying one. Any truth in all this?

Hi Karcsi,
First of all, welcome to our little community.. I hope you'll feel right at home here..
Like you , I was a total VW adept till about a few years ago.. I could never see myself driving anything other than cars that came out of the VW group...
Now, 1,5 year later, I can't see myself driving anything other than Alfa
(I drive a 147 JTD 8v by the way)
Compared to the Bora (Boring)1.9 TDI 110 BHP I had before, the 147 is a much smoother , sportier car to drive.. The handling, sound, steering feel is way better then that of the VW.. Fuel consumption is about the same, although I must admit I tend to have a bit of a sporty drive wink
About reliability: the only problems i have had so far are all electronic-related and were all fixed under warranty.. And even with my Bora, I was in and out of the garage a few times the first months.. eek! Must admit, i drive a company car, so I don't really care about costs
I'd say, follow your heart on this one, and I'm sure you'll make the right decision
But the fact that you're already here must say something, non? wink
Good luck http://www.alfaowner.com/forum/ubb/icons/icon01.gif
