Re: Stiff gear change

The problem is likely to be the linkage mechanism where the cables connect to the box. The cross gate movement is connected to a shaft on the top of the box which pivots in two thin nylon bushes. The alloy casting around the bushes corrodes and locks the bushes onto the shaft. It needs to be stripped cleaned and reassembled with appropriate grease and hey presto it all works again!! The same arrangement is fitted to the 147 156 jtd and 166s and they all suffer the same problem.
