Re: 147 rear view mirror!
I am at my wits end having lost count of the self help and professional attempts to reattach my rear view mirror to the windscreen. I have tried several adhesives, including one with a special mesh, and my local Alfa agent and windscreen replacement company have also pitched in. None of these has worked for any appreciable time and I am therefore appealing to you all out there as a last ditch attempt to find a solution.
I did once find a promising Loctite adhesive advertised on an American site but I'm pretty sure that it was such a product that was used by the professionals mentioned above. I am fully aware that so called superglues are not to be used as they cause the glass to flake away with the mirror! I have been at great pains to remove adhesive and roughen surfaces before attaching, and yes, I did just attach the bracket for a few days, prior to reattaching the mirror.
Is it possible to purchase the original mirror piece that attaches, without buying the entire mirror. At least the original had a lifespan of a few years.
I am considering abandoning the mirror altogether and somehow screwing a lightweight version to the headboard. Drastic but at least it wouldn't fall off after a few days.
