New Fob

OK please do not shout at me, I did search before hand and did not come across an answer

52 plated 03 Alfa 156 in need of a second (spare) fob. I recently bought one and now it needs programming

Now I have been told I need a 7 digit number from Alfa in order to program the fob. Rang Alfa in Knutsford who said they will reply but haven't yet

Do I need this 7 digit code on a yelow sticker and if so how much will Alfa charge me, am I better off going to Alfa to get the programming done?

Re: New Fob

I'm in an similar situation, just picked up a 147 and didn't bother to check the second key. Doh!

First key works perfectly.
Second key does not operate by reomte. If I lock the car manually I can use either key manually. If I use the remote (and set the alarm) the remote does not work on the second key, if I use it manually it sets of the alarm.

Had this on my Audi and can fix two ways. Use the keys in a certain sequence to reprogram it for the second key or plug in vagcom and reset.

Would have assumed similar on the Alfa but can find no info.

Local dealer had no idea and said I needed new keys and controller.

Any ideas or know of a friendly dealer near Milton Keynes?

Re: New Fob

I am not too sure about the "black" key, mine is the red one. I thought I had lost one and so started to look for a replacement. Mangoletsi quoted me £150 for the key that will come from Italy already cut and then about £20 for the code, also from Italy and then Mango's wanted £45 to program the key to the car. Lucky for me, I found my lost key. I search for an alternative source without success. I programmed a couple of fiat keys by using the ignition system, do not know if Alfa's work the same. Good Luck.
