Aargh!...something's burning:(

Last night noted a distinct smell of burning rubber coming from engine bay, like tire smoke. Had a good look around this morning and nothing appears amiss. No rubbing belts nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

i have the same problem.. im worried as i have no money for any more work at the mo.

i sprayred wd-40 all over the engine bay.
i also found a plastic pvc hose pipe which also could be melting off the engine.
im gonna put tape on it tomorrow morning.

I'd be checking that the timing belt is ok, and that something along its path hasn't seized...

Same goes for the auxiliary belt, but it's not as...ummm....catastrophic!

Is your car using oil? one of our cars is, and I have been informed that the same burning smell you have is the oil being burnt getting past the piston rings
