The muck that lurks behind

As a newbie i may be telling you what you already knew, but as i am used to working on old Austins, i was amazed to find that the same afflictions are found on my beloved 147. I shall cut to the chase, while fitting my new OE mudflaps i thought it prudent to check what the condition of the inner front wings was like before screwing through the protective plastic linners, I was AMUSED to find about a pound of wet mud and grit festering there just waiting to rot out my pride and joy. After a good blow out with the air line and a prod with the stainless reinforcing wire from an old Alfa rear wiper blade, the areas were cleaned up and dried before a bloody good coat of waxoil. I though mud traps went out in the early ninties
