Trouble with that light is that it is a catch all for any (potential) problem that the ECU has identified, if the car is still driving fine then it might
be still ok ... however the only real way to tell is by plugging it into a 'puter and reading out the error codes ...
It's a shame you're not near me other wise I could have done it ... there maybe someone local to you on here that could though ...
.. I know it sounds a bit odd but it would be best for you to get a code reader (they are pretty cheap of EODB cars ... which yours is) ... that way when you do take it into the garage you are "armed" with some information ...
... in a way it's good that the garage can't book you in for a couple of weeks because it at least means they are busy ... and therefore probably quite good, is it an Alfa specialist?
