I have now had 16v 2.0 twin sparks for seven years and cumulatively 90,000 miles, and I accept what the manufacturer tells me, and I do exactly what it says in the book, and I have had no problems. I am really sick of people banging on about what they consider "rubbish" because the car doesn't match their preconceived, narrow minded opinions.
If you are using the recommended oil and you are getting figures worse than 1 litre per 1000 kms, you have a problem. If it isn't, then you haven't. If you choose to use an unrecommended oil, well then that's your look out...</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hey, don't forget that Alfa are trying to protect their backsides by putting comments like this in the manual. My dealer made it quite clear to me when I purchased the car (because I queried him on oil consumption) that if I have any significant oil consumption after the first 2000km that I should bring the car in.
