156 Tuning BPM increases

I'm sure this has been asked in different ways numerous times before. I have searched the forum, and read lots about various mods you can do to your 156 to increase BPM and torque...

Turbos and superchargers being really pricey and not worth the investment IMO.

I was looking at Angel Tunings, website and see they will do a tuning chip and induction kit.

They say, that the tuning chip will add 14bhp and the induction kit + 4/5%. So for the £405 charge they claim they can add (by my calcs!) a total of 20 bhp to the stock 150. Sound about right?

Is this a "noticeable" performance increase?

I've also read that you can get engine re-maps (Red dot etc) that are more the in region of £200-£300. But what sort of bang for your buck, so to speak, do you get from it? I know that various maps can be done depending on what you want.

I have a 2002 156 2.0 TS. What is the best course of action, if say I am not really to fussed about top speed, but maybe a more pokey 0-60 and better fuel economy (The latter being more a remap thing I think)

Thanks guys

Re: 156 Tuning BPM increases

To be honest, I presonally can't see the pont in remapping the 2.0TS, the performance increase you'll get will be negligable ... as for the induction kit it will make you car sound nicer ... but performance wise very little difference ... (I used to have a 2.0TS and had a good look at the possibilities ... but came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it)

If you do want to improve your car then the best bet would be to fit some decent brakes and make the suspension tighter by fitting strut braces, uprated ARB and powerflex bushes ...

Re: 156 Tuning BPM increases

you get what you pay for. an extra 20bhp isn't going to make that much difference and it wont be shaving a noticable amount off your 0-60. it wont improve economy. depends on what you want. i wouldn't bother with a petrol car unless i was going to use it competitively.
