yesterday before i went out in my car i topped my car up with oil then drove it about 100 yards where it was parked and left ticking over for about 10 minutes.
then i drove about 300 yards to park the car somewhere else and when i stopped there was a VERY loud knocking noise.
i opned the bonnet to inspect and the noise is coming from the cambelt area.
when i rev the car to about 2500 revs the noise stops and the engine sounds normal.
i didnt notice any lack of power when driving it and i ckeck the oil level atleast once a week and is always topped up.
Can anyone help with this problem as i wouldnt dare drive it just incase i do anymore damage to the engine.
thanks in advance.
its usually changed along with the cambelt, tensioner, idler and water pump, should be around £340 if its being done properly.you could get the variator changed for about £180, best having job lot done tho.
