It has also been talked about the rear suspension, what are the problem with it? What is the cure?

Paul, I can only really comment about my car, however it appears that the rear suspension can get weak and sag fairly early on. I bought my car with 40k on it, now has 52k. Trying to tow my race bike on a trailer, or having any noticable load in the boot means that the rear tyres can hit the inner wheel arch liners - basically the rear suspension compresses too much.
I replaced the springs/shocks with new ones about a month ago, and so far, it is a huge improvement. It rides about an inch higher at the rear, and is much firmer and more controlled. Loads and the trailer are no longer a problem.
There have been many threads about it on this forum ovet the last year or so. Perhaps do a search for "166 suspension"?
Problem seems to be lessened on late 2000 onwards cars with VDC.
