Hi everyone, i'm sorry to post another MCSF message on here. I know there must be literally hundreds of them!! I've tried searching over the last two days for a problem identical to mine, tried a few things but now require a little help/advice if possible.
Before I start, bit of background. I've had the car for 6 weeks and its been nothing but a nightmare! Its had MCSF once, this was cured by a new crank sensor, then two weeks later the engine had total bottom end failure and a new unit has been fitted. I'm 600 miles into my 'run in' and all has been going well until yesterday...
I'd stopped to put some fuel in the car, I ran it lower than I have before knowing I could make it to the next Shell garage, but I still had a little left in there, half a mile down the road afterwards the MCSF light came on.
I stopped it, and re-started and the warning appeared again along with the light. The first time I had MCSF it cleared itself, leaving the light on the dash which cleared after 5 starts.
But I get the warning message and beep each time I start the car, so obviously something is wrong and isn't a 'one off'.
The car is driving 100% perfectly. If it wasn't for the light you wouldn't know something was wrong.
I tried resetting the ECU last night. Still got MCSF warning. I got the battery tested, seems ok but all he did was test the voltage so i'm not ruling this out yet. I know this fixes a lot of people's MCSF's. If the battery was on its way out would it give the MCSF on every start!? I don't know when it was last replaced.
I need to get it sorted asap as it will invalidate my rebuilt engine warranty if I allow it to continue. I'm not driving the car because of this even though it drives perfectly!
I tried calling Duncan at Alfanet but he's going straight to voicemail. I desperately need the code read and unfortunately don't have the software myself.
Any ideas? I'm starting to lose all faith with this car now
