156 side light + brake light not working

This is my first post here. I have a 156 1.8 (2000). The driver's side front side light and rear brake light (same side) have both stopped working. I think the side light went a bit before the brake light but can't be sure. I have changed the bulbs and fuses and still not working. There is a warning light on the dash...and I have seen a couple of threads here suggesting body comp/rev counter might need replacing. I hope not! I am going to take it to a local Alfa garage tomorrow but just wondered if anyone has some advice on possible fixes before I leave it to the garage to sort (don't want to be stung for too much).

Thanks for any advice.

Its the diode on your REV counter that has failed, probably the VND driver chip as well. Just fixed mine for 6 all in
